In the midst of many brands of RV roof coatings around, it’s difficult to choose if you don’t even know what type they are. Let’s discuss the common types of RV roof coatings below.

• Acrylic

Acrylic is a durable and affordable elastomeric coating you can use for your RV roof. The high solid emulsion polymers make this type highly reflective and suitable for extremely hot climates. While this type of coating provides the greatest UV resistance, it might not fare well in terms of ponding water.

• Urethane

Urethane is more expensive than acrylics but more affordable than silicone. This type is the most durable, hence ideal for high-traffic areas. It also works well in resisting ponding water, as well as UV damage. The only drawback is that it tends to emit a strong odor during application.

• Silicone AND Rubber coatings

They provide the most benefits, but they are the most expensive among the four types. Benefits include high weather resistance, superb reflectivity, and resistance to ponding water and superior tensile strength.
